Commentsfirstly i looked to the focal lenght of this photo...300 mm...it means to me with a 300mm we can see some details of moon...and one question, why is iso speed 1600? i think it can be choosen around 400 and so f number will be around 5,6-8 after all we can have a better details and also no noise...just i'm thinking myself while writing haahahhaaa...
-- le vent nous portera Yes, but there is also a 1.6x crop factor for the digital frame, so it results in a 480mm eq. focal length... Not important. Anyhow, yes, the 1600 ISO is overkill, originally I thought if I used F/14 it would help sharpen the focus (greater DOF, more forgiving on the focus not being perfect) but alas, you are absolutely correct about the horrible grain. If I went to ISO 400 or even 200, moved to F/8 say, and used something along the lines of 1/30 (and maybe a tripod) I could probably get and equally exposed and focused shot, with less detail lost to noise.

-- le vent nous portera If I used a tripod I could go slower and use a lower ISO though... So you still have a good point.
